Scouting for Food – 12/1

On December 1, Pack 417 will go door-to-door in our neighborhood to request donations for Holy Redeemer’s St. Vincent de Paul. Needed items include nonperishable food and toiletries.

(We cannot accept items packaged in glass, or home-cooked foods.)

Holy Redeemer’s St. Vincent de Paul Society is a food bank open to the neighborhood on Saturday and Wednesday afternoons.

Scouts:

Please meet at 9 am near the Holy Redeemer gymnasium. We’ll have some hot beverages and donuts for crews to enjoy as they come and go. In small groups, Boy Scouts from Troop 71 and Cub Scouts from Pack 417 will comb the neighboring streets with support from parents.

Parents, you can help:

  • Walk with the Scouts
  • Bring bags and wagons to tote canned goods
  • Carry water bottles
  • Drive slowly down the street with the trunk open so that Scouts can place canned goods inside when the bags get too heavy and wagons too full.
  • Bring the canned goods to St. Vincent de Paul after the Scouting for Food event ends.

Wreath Pickup

At noon, after Scouting for Food: wreaths, swags, and garlands ordered through the pre-sale will be available for pick up. Note that it’s your responsibility to deliver your wreaths to your own buyers. You may want to call them ahead of time to let them know when you’ll stop by with their wreath, or to find out whether you can deliver it through school or church.

Where do I get my wreath?

After Dec. 2, Scouts will sell wreaths after each Mass – those wreaths will be on hand for you to take home right away.

Scouts:

At noon, after Scouting for Food: wreaths, swags, and garlands ordered through the pre-sale will be available for pick up. Note that it’s your responsibility to deliver your wreaths to your own buyers. You may want to call them ahead of time to let them know when you’ll stop by with their wreath, or to find out whether you can deliver it through school or church.

What happens to the proceeds?

Scouts will use the proceeds to offset costs of summer camp. Wreath sales is our only fundraiser for the year, so we appreciate your help in making camp affordable to everyone.
